B 183

June 23, 2018
Finishing up my book report really put into perspective what I need to be doing with my business ideas. I have always had a drive and purpose for what I want to do but E-Myth has really helped me figure out how to get there. I think that I need to start putting my business ideas on paper. I have to some extent but I truly want other people to be able to pick up where I left off. Honestly, if something happened to me right now I want someone to be able to find my business ideas and be able to start the exact business I would have just off of my notes. I mean I would rather not have to do that but I want it to be an option.
I liked this weeks material, I think about hiring people all the time because a major part of what I want to do has to do with who’s working for me. Whenever I meet people I have a habit of analyzing them to see if they’d be a good fit in my school. And honestly, I’ve found few people that I’d like to work for me. Yes, maybe my standards are a bit high but I want the environment to be something specific and the people who fill it have to be specific as well. Who you surround yourself with is important.
I think my favorite line from all the material this week was the one that said to hire people who are better and bigger then you because that’s how you create a business of giants. That is what I want. I want to find people who are better than me in every capacity. I want them to be teaching me because I want something great for my company.
$100 Challenge….. I’m working on it. I think I’ve learned that I have a hard time with business that I don’t necessarily care for. I like my product idea. I like what I have to offer and think that other people would like it. But the fact still stands that I would never buy it and I think that’s why I’m having a hard time even remembering that I’m supposed to be working on it. It has become simply an assignment instead of something with any kind of purpose. I almost wish I could just hand the idea off to someone else because I’d love to see it come to life but I’m not into it enough to do it myself.

June 7th 2018
I’m back again! Surprisingly still alive with midterms here. I loved learning about how to deal with customers this week. I have always found it fascinating learning about how to work with people but have studied little about what it means in a business context. But people are the same in most contexts and have the same basic needs, such as feeling important and needed. As a customer, I don’t know about you, but I like to walk into a business and know that they want me there. Since I love the outdoors most of the businesses that I’ve loyal to happen to be outdoor shops, but the best ones are those run locally by some guy who you’ll see out climbing when his store says closed. Those are my favorite because you realize that he doesn’t just have this business to make money but because he loves what he does and what it allows other people to do.
Business should be something of passion or at least that is my opinion. When I own a company I plan on it being something that I fully believe in and want others to believe in. You can tell the difference between companies that believe in what they do and the ones that don’t. Because the ones that don’t don’t care about you as a customer nor do they worry about the state of their products. Allow me to state that there are incredibly “successful” companies that may not exactly believe in their products. Success is a matter of opinion and mine is that if you and the people around you aren’t happy then you haven’t found success.
One last note about what I learned from our Acton hero this week; It doesn’t matter what the circumstances you came from are, it only matters where you go from here. Stop using your circumstances and environment as an excuse to fail. It’s your life take control of it because you’re the only one in charge of where you end up and you are the only one in your own way.
$100 dollar challenge update! We are getting there my friends, yes I am a bit behind I think. But we push forward always. I’ve begun designing and researching how to make my Lucifer’s Straps. I am currently playing around with two different ideas on how to make them and I will update you shortly, hopefully with pictures of where we are at. I also have to people who want to buy some already.

June 2nd 2018
This week has been crazy! With a holiday on Monday and my school week ending on Thursday you would think I’d have more time to get homework done with fewer classes to attend. But somehow this week seemed more packed then most. More than anything I feel as if this class is forcing me to figure out better scheduling and time management. But there were a few things from class this week that struck me. First, that I’ve no idea how to make an elevator pitch and I hate boring videos. Second, that I need to figure out how to manage my time a bit better cause its getting away from me. Third, from the video we watched it got me thinking about how much I believe in the company I want to build. You have to commit to your company and believe that what your offering the world is worth it. Oddly enough I watched a movie the other night that had the same principle where the CEO of the company didn’t really believe in the product but the person under him who created the product believed full heartedly. In the end the creator of the product convinces the CEO that it can’t be all about the money or the customers won’t buy it and is proven to be right. My point being that a successful company isn’t all about what the customer would want but a lot of it is in the owner believing in its success and worth.
Alright on to what else I’ve learned this week. This wasn’t from the class but I’m going to put it in here anyway. I recently heard someone talk about the Jaredites and the brother of Jared and that whole story. He was saying how we don’t write in our journals the way that we should. Because we put the answers to things but not the questions. He laid out the issues that the Brother of Jared brought before the Lord about his boat. First, how would they steer? And God replied that he’d take care of it. So when and how does the Lord direct your life? Second, how would they breath? And God laid out exactly how to cut holes in the boat for air. When does the Lord lay out a plan for you to follow? Third, how could they see? And God told them two things he couldn’t do, he couldn’t build a fire, and couldn’t put in windows and then he left it up to him to figure it out. So when does the Lord give you boundaries and say figure it out? I think these three ways of revelation or important to remember especially as an entrepreneur. Sometimes God will take care of it, sometimes he’ll tell you exactly how to do it and other times he’ll say figure it out. It’s up to us to ask though.
My $100 dollar Challenge is struggling. I said I’d talk with my friend and I didn’t. I started my elevator pitch and it… well it wasn’t what I wanted it to be and I got a little stuck trying to make it what I wanted it. But we are continuing with the idea and I’ll update you more next week.
